politics 101

In a democratic form of government, one votes for representatives who are meant to be representative of their constituencies (folks who voted for them.) In a republic, one votes for someone not based on their skill as a representative, but for their opinions on issues and their faith in their ability to rule. Because of the way we, as Americans, have gone, we live in a largely republican government. This was not the intent of the founders, but we'll get to that later. By the intent, the Executive branch is republican and the legislature is democratic. The thing the judiciary is nearest to is a constitutional monarchy. In recent years, like since a month before iwas born, the people have been draged into court appointments, which, all in all, might not neccasarily be a bad thing. But, again, it differs from the intent, and the first time it happened, it was a massive campaign of lies and chicanery. Not a good precedent to set. And it was set against something Washington warned against in his farewell address. He warned against two main things: foreign entaglment as a young nation and partisan politics. Partisan politics has ravaged the political landscape over th past fourty or more years, and no good has come of it. In congress right now, our representatives and senators are in hot debate about what to do about social seciurity, and no decisio is being reached because theycan't flippin' get along long enough to do something. Perhaps you saw how torn up we were as a nation during the last election. If we continue down this path, part of the next few ceturies might well e another civil war. And, of course, if the first nation to move away from monarchy and found itself on Christian principles falls, who's going to hold back the rise of a nation with the devil himself at its head? Not Canada. And so, the moral of the story is everytime you whine, a terrorist wins.
